The first thing I did was hit the internet in search of yellow homes. There are many adorable yellow houses out there, all with their own personality. But what color scheme is perfect for my little yellow house? My first thought went right to black. A yellow house with black shutters is a classic combination but......then.......... I like the way the blue looks on the windows above.
Green never goes out of style and has been a staple in all my homes.
Or maybe no shutters at all? Hmmm...I don't think so, my house is not as grand as this one so I'm not sure she could pull it off.

You know Michelle, I really like the blues you have. The navy and the baby blue would both look great but the darker color would look so sophisticated!
I like the olivey gray green of the picture of the really big house with 2 entries... it would look fantastic with a black door or tan.
I LOVE yellow houses...my first two were yellow. The first had black shutters and the second, green. I'm sort of partial to black or green shutters, but I like the sound of what you are thinking about, too. I have a red door for the first time on my current home and I really like it. I can't wait to see what you decide! :-) Susan
Right from the beginning of the post I was thinking green. I like the house in the bottom picture. But a red door would add interest, too. I guess I am not being that helpful am I? My cousin has a bright pink door on her pale yellow house - almost magenta and it looks great. ~ Robyn
Hmmm....I like the thought of black or else chocolate brown. I love the red door idea and can not wait to get my own red door. It's on the long list of to do projects. Have a great Valentines Day!

I would choose for the shutters the colors in the second photo. I like the warmer, muted tones. But with the door I would not be sure tan, black and red would all work well and it probably would depend on my mood that day with what color door our home would end up with.
Have a wonderful day,
Tam
I liked every picture you posted. I don't think you can go wrong with any color. I really like the last house, the one you added the colors.
Have a great Valentines day.

I have always dreamed of living in a yellow house with white trim! :o) So I am a smidge partial to that combination. I am looking forward to your decision. :o)
Happy Valentine's Day!
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
Ps. I am having a give away next week, please drop by.
I like the idea of a natural wood or tan door and green shutters. (Not just because that's what I have on my house!!!!) What shade of green? That is a whole different question!!!! But I will have to say I love the way the blue shutters look in your blog header. So many decision, but all your choices are good ones! :D Jewel
Oh wow. That is such a hard decision to make. I have always been partial to red doors. Our door is a cherry red and it is so inviting and cheery. I smile every time I look at it. As far as the shutters and trim, I have always liked the combination of yellow house with white trim. So I would probably do yellow house, white trim, and red door. But I think the colors that you put together on BHG was nice too. :)
Oh, I love yellow houses. They always look the friendliest. I also love green shutters. Hard decision, but I'm sure your decision will be lovely. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY. Hugs, Marty
Michelle...I'm a blue and yellow gal myself! I love the first picture. See my living room window here:

I'll be anxious to see what you decide! Good luck with it.
Red doors bring good luck and I have had several in my life! I also like the idea of yellow and crisp white ~ with red door. Have a happy Valentine's Day!
I like the idea of red but with the yellow my personal choice would be black shutters and door and white trim....either will look great though;) Happy V day to you! French;)
I love the pictures with the blue shutters or the black shutters. I'm sure whatever you decide it will look beautiful! A yellow home seems so happy!
Happy Valentine's Day!♥
I vote for blue, black or red since it seems like everyone does green. :)
Our house was painted yellow for years with white trim, and the shutters and door were Charleston green (a black with some green) by Duron. We loved it. Recently we had the whole thing repainted a taupe with white trim and again, black shutter and door. I love it. Actually, I especially liked the 1st - with blue shutters, the black shutters, and even the red door. Can't wait to see what you pick. Linda
I am so glad you styopped by my blog and commented, I came here and just fell in love with your blog! I had to add it to my google reader right away! Weighing in on the color issue, I love the red door with a yellow house, but that's just me. I think any of the colors you mention would look great. I look forward to seeing what you choose:>)
This may sound crazy, but there is a little yellow house right down the street from me, and it has PURPLE shutters, window boxes and front door. Yes, I said PURPLE. And I love it - it is so happy - not a neon purple, not a dark purple, just basic purple. It is so stinkin' cute and they always have lots of other bright colored flowers planted all around. My son calls it the "rainbow and sunshine" house. And it is. You ought to try it - if you don't like it, its only paint...Just my 2 cents.
I would vote black shutters! But that's just me. (: We have a red front door and I love it! The first one I've ever had and I think now I may never go back! It's happy and inviting! Can't wait to see what you decide!
