Here are the before pics. The walls were blue, the trim was natural and the carpet was...well....it was gross. I realize the curtains didn't match either, I just kind of threw them up there to block out the strong morning sun.
This is what it looks like now. The door for the headboard came from the basement. Wall lamps are from Ikea.
I love this print from Etsy. The print is a little more on the modern side and I love how it looks in an old frame.
I had purchased this bolster cover from Pottery Barn but not the insert. I was going to sew and stuff one myself but then my mom gave me an idea. We were talking about how to fill it and she mentioned rolling up some batting. I happened to have two old, flat, worn out pillows that were destined for the garbage. I thought hey, I can save some money and roll those up. So I did. And stuffed them in there. Then the space in between the two I filled up with an old towel. It took some smoothing and stuffing but I saved a good $20-30. You can see the the one pillow all rolled up in there.....

~ A bedskirt. I'm thinking brown.
~ The full length wood mirror was a clearance find. I'm going to add some trim around it to bulk it up some more and paint it black.
~ Euro shams. I bought the fabric and already had the pillows, I just need to sew some shams.
~ Repaint the armoire. When we first painted it a few years back, we sealed the top with water based poly. What a mess. It completely discolored the top so now we have to sand and repaint. Poly is definitely not meant for lightly colored painted surfaces.
~ Some trim around the door headboard.
I think that's about it. I'm sure when I click Publish Post, I'll remember something else it needs. For now we're on to the living room. The finishing touches on the bedroom can wait, the living room walls just can't. They are filled with paint chips and spackle and look pretty sad.

* *Had to edit because I'm dying with laughter here!!!! I was scrolling back through the pics and RMS was staring at me. It does not stand for Rate My Space! I'm not that decorating/HGTV insane. LOL The letters are our first and last names. Oh my gosh, those may have to go. Now every time I look, all I will see is rate my space. *sigh*

This looks so great! I love everything you did. The door for headborad? Love that! Job very well done :)
Your bedroom looks beautiful! I must admit, I did think of Rate My Space at first, lol. I'm sure with all the finishing touches your room will look more beautiful. I definitely can relate to having tons of projects left to do...
Wow! That was fast!! LOL
The room turned out beautiful and so cozy! I love your bedding and the bolster stuffing was genius. That picture of the armoir closeup is magazine worthy! LOVE that print too :)
Your initials on the wall can be put up the traditional way with your last initial in the middle, so that they read "R-S-M". That's right isn't it? I didn't even think about RMS until you said it, but that's hysterical LOL
Another amazing room...

OK..it's official. I would like to hire you!
What a beautiful sanctuary for you and the hubs!
Take a bow my friend. You are AWESOME!!
Good idea Rue, I think I'll just switch the S to the middle. Oh well, at least I can laugh at myself. Teehee....
That is so funny because that is the first thing that popped in my head was Rate My Space. However I knew that is not what you meant. Very good makeover. I love it!
Love Love Love the door headboard...smart. My shams and have all sorts of things filling them too:) Great job! Love your initials!
The bedroom is gorgeous. I love all the crisp white woodwork and the floors are simply to die for. I love them. Your choice of fabric is also so pretty with the color of the walls, it gives the room great character. The RMS, I didn't associate with rate my space until you said that. lol I guess I'm not that big a fan of that show either. Love the room, it is truly beautiful. Hugs, Marty
LOL! I immediately saw Rate My Space, but I just kept telling myself "No. There's no way someone would actually do that....right? NO!" Too funny that your initials happen to be those exact letters! :)
The room looks great!! Love your ideas!

Your bedroom is simply gorgeous, Michelle! Love the color and your accessories. I laughed when I saw RMS too but I figured it was your initials b/c I didn't think you would want "Rate My Space" on your wall. LOL!
More gorgeous wood floors. And I love the floor to ceiling row of framed photos at the end of the bed. How creative. Back to work while I listen to your Missy Higgins on the blog player. :)
almost all of my rooms are about 86% finished...that's life!

Your room looks great - I am jealous. DH actually said last night we should do our bedroom this fall. Hooray!!!! DH's initials are RMS and whenever people talk about Rate My Space it is confusing to me!!! Great job - I love the new color - so relaxing. :D Jewel
What a great job. I really like how it all turned out. The wall color is amazing and what a clever idea for the bloster. All your hard work has paid off.

Very clever and pretty.
Have a blessed day my friend.

Your room looks beautiful! So does Hubby trust your color judgement now?? Make sure you show us again after you get your armoire painted. I love that you used an old door for the headboard. The stain color on it is lovely!
Blessings~LillySue
Your room is gorgeous!!! How reat is it to sleep in a totally "new" room. Love all your touches!
Agree with the polyurethane over white...I made the same mistake.
What a beautiful transformation. I love the wall color and the headboard door. Great choice of ceiling fan, and the bedside wall lamps are terrific. It has all come together wonderfully.

And the print, soooo sweet. Great job.

well worth it!!
I love the room! It looks terrific! My first thought was RATE MY SPACE! But if I were you I'd keep them! After all ....they ARE your initials! You could switch them around too so it won't bug you!
I finished my living room project that was totally inspired by you! Thanks so much for all the info!
It looks great!
Too funny about the RMS. I didnt even think of that!
Veryy pretty! Love the bolster. cherry
Just fabulous! I love the colors you chose. And you know what? I wasn't thinking Rate My Space, I was just jealous that you found such fabulous letters, and displayed them so well! :)
Hi Michelle,
This looks just grand! I am heheing too, because first thing I thought is does she work for Rate My Space? I love it all, I think the armoire looks great as it is and That headboard/door looks just fab! Can you tell me what those little green balls are in the jar? Those are just so neat. I really love your redo, looks beautiful. Cindy
That is so sad that I thought Rate My Space too. Sad, sad, sad. This is a beautiful room though!! Love all the colors.
Very nice. Looks cozy and well thought out. Pretty.
Michelle, it looks fantastic! I love that you took that carpet out and re-did those hardwood floors. Superb! And that door-now-headboard is perfect! I have (I think) the exact same old doors in my house - none lingering in the basement though! Great job! It's so beautiful - I can't wait to see it 100% done, with your shams, and bedskirt.
Your bedroom is BEAUTIFUL! It now looks like a master bedroom that you can relax in and really enjoy. Love your headboard and the floor turned out great. Can't imagine covering up that gorgeous wood with carpet. Thanks for sharing your new space.
So funny ... the first thing that popped into my mind was Rate My Space!
