Novica

A few months ago I was approached to review product for a website called NOVICA. The website was new to me and I had a great time browsing through the entire site, I'm pretty sure I looked at every category. After much deliberation, I settled on jewelry. My choices were the rose quartz beaded bracelet and the gorgeous necklace you see below called Snow Blossom. It's white, shocking, I know......

I took a little while to do my review because I wanted to wear the items and give an accurate review. After ordering, the package came quickly. The items came in such pretty boxes that, if you were ordering as a gift, would require no wrapping.

After wearing both pieces, I can tell you that I am absolutely thrilled. The quality is wonderful, they are beautiful and I have received a ton of compliments on the necklace. I can wear my Snow Blossom necklace with a dressy outfit or spruce up a basic jeans and t-shirt day.

There are many different sections to browse such as, Home Decor, Furniture, Handbags, Tableware and Corporate Gifts .

If you are looking for handmade items that are created with care, I would recommend this site to my blog readers.

From their mission statement:

"We want to give artists and artisans around the world a global platform to express their true artistic talents and to spur their creativity. And, we want to provide you with access to unique, hard-to-find items at great values that only the Internet infrastructure can allow. "

Happy Shopping!!

A Pantry and a Purchase

We'll start with the purchase since that's the most fun! I have been trying to rein in my online shopping (if only it weren't so darn fun to receive packages in the mail!) but I had to make an exception for this great find. My new Nest banner from House of Whimsy on Etsy. You can find her store HERE .

She has a super cute blog as well! I love the tiny crowns on the birds, very whimsical which is just what you expect from a blog of this name. I'm a sucker for anything with birds...add some glitter and the word "nest" and I'm done for.

This week I worked on our pantry. It was a mess and needed some attention. First, the scary Before shot:

I emptied it all out and rehomed some items that didn't need to be in there. Who needs 6 phone books anyway?!

After a fresh coat of paint....ahhhh......

While that was drying I got to work on the shelves. I found small pieces of decorative trim at Michaels, and used a coupon of course! Wood glue was all it took to put these on. Just hold in place with tape and they dry pretty quickly!

And here it is all organized and pretty. Hopefully it stays this way for a while at least! I used large baskets on the bottom and lots of containers for cereal, cookies, sugar, etc. Not only will they keep the food fresher but they look cute too!

The glass containers were on clearance at Christmas Tree Shops and the new scalloped trim makes me smile when I open the door now.

I added some toile wallpaper to the shelves that I had lying around the basement.

The silver planters from the dollar store hold the little items like sweetener packets and Kool Aid. I just used scrapbooking stickers to label the contents. Another option for this would be a little chalkboard paint which would be super cute as well!

It feels good for everything to be in its proper place. Now the tricky part will be to keep it this way for any length of time!

Disappearing Act

Hi everyone! I didn't mean to disappear for this long. It's been very busy around here, the end of the school year, softball, holiday, school festival, assemblies, etc. There has been a lot of fun in all the crazy though!

I want to thank you for all the amazing comments on my feature. I can't help but smile every time a new comment comes in. Some of you emailed me questions and I will answer them soon. I've been having some computer difficulties and I'm not sure if it is all blogger or my computer. I think some of it has to do with the laptop. Time to go look for a good anti virus today! I always say it, because it is so true, blogging friends are just the best! It's so nice to meet the new readers to my blog, I plan on visiting all of you.

The living room pics are coming (tired of hearing that, yes?). I'd post it now but you would be so scared of the mess, you would run screaming, never to return. How is it that three little people can make the biggest mess in about 4.5 minutes??

I want to show you one project at least! Remember the dresser I got for Mother's Day? Here is the before pic again:

And this is what it looks like now. I did the drawers gray, the rest white and antiqued it of course. I think the details come out so much more with paint.
Hubby hung a mirror above it for me. This mirror has been sitting on my dining room floor for a long time. It was a steal for $15 at Homegoods. The mirror is scratched but you know me, I don't mind an imperfection or two! It sat on the floor because I didn't have a good place for it, until now......
I love it but it needed something. A good project idea sprung to mind! I bought these adorable clothespins off Etsy and the ribbon at good old Walmart.

Hung a couple nails, tied the ribbon to them and voila! Instant character. Now, what to put on it? Hmmmmm.....

So many possibilities! I opted for a combination of pictures and vintage postcards. Some of the postcards were purchased because the writing was so pretty. A couple are in french, wish I knew what they said! Hopefully they don't say anything bad, if someone comes over that speaks french, that could prove embarrassing. Anyway, I scoured Ebay for vintage postcards featuring places around my town. I'll add more as I find them.

Some of these postcards are older than my house and most feature a one cent stamp. Can you imagine mailing anything for one cent?!

So that is my project for the day. Fast, easy and you can change it out with your mood! At Christmas, I'll hang my cards from it. It would look very cute with black and white photos, vintage papers, newspaper clippings. Anything you like!

I will post the rest of the rooms soon. Anyone want to come help me clean this mess so I can take photos? Hello? Why are you all running away? Teehee.

Tomorrow is my birthday so I have a fun filled day ahead of me! It's hard to get excited about my birthday as I get older but the looks on the girls' faces when they came home with presents....ahhh....I just can't help but be excited. There has been whispering and giggling....hiding in their rooms with the door closed and their art supplies. I just might have some special cards to hang in my mirror tomorrow. See you all soon!!

Everything Room Details

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading all the comments on my everything room makeover. If you followed along on the remodeling posts, I reached a point where I just wasn't sure if it was going to all come together. I was questioning my fabric choices, questioning the furniture placement, etc. It was such a great feeling to read your sweet comments about the finished room.

There were some questions and I thought I would address them all in one post.

~The wall color is Brown Teepee by Behr (Home Depot). I saw it in a Better Homes and Gardens feature on brown and loved it. Isn't it great how they find all the good stuff for us?!

~Bottom white is also by Behr, called Clear Moon.

~The wallpaper is from Target. It's called Sprig Mocha.

The lower plates in the pics were found at thrift stores. These upper ones are all from T.J.Maxx.

Cute bird themed tags by Sunshine and Ravioli on Etsy.

Egg themed prints in the background from L. Herbert Designs.

Magnets and push pins from Kat's Krafts, Etsy.

The two little bird clothespins came from Gifts & Talents, Etsy.

My favorite is the nest clothespin my daughter made me. Unfortunately she does not have a store. ;)

Calendar months by every jot and tittle, Etsy.

Fabric tags came from Michaels.

I also had a couple questions about this TV stand. I bought this unusual table? shelf? about 3 years ago at an antique store and the store owner looked at me funny when I said I was going to put it inside the house. She had mentioned that it would be good for a plant stand on a porch. The table is definitely on the rustic side but I don't mind at all. It hasn't been painted on my watch as of yet.

Hopefully you will have some time to visit the sellers I purchased from, I'm very happy with all the items! Thanks again for all the encouragement!

Wanna shop?

I've been doing a little too much shopping online lately. Etsy has some wonderful items. Lets spend some virtual Blog money so I can save my bank account. Why don't you come along?

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_list_19&listing_id=20858538&ga_search_query=spring+&ga_search_type=category_tags_paper_goods

It's still cold here in PA but it won't stop me from thinking spring! How about these adorable Easter tags?

These calendar tags certainly caught my eye! They would be great above my calendar on our cork board.

How about these great tags to tuck inside thank you cards? They would be a fun surprise for the recipient.

I'm not usually drawn to jewelry but this is fantastic! I love the yellow color, this would look great for spring on a rain jacket.

This would be adorable on a little girl! The perfect apron to wear and help mommy bake.

How can you resist this apron? The cupcake images are delicious (and won't ruin your diet!) I'm not sure which I like better, the apron or that wonderful stove behind it!

Oh what a sweet creamer! I can picture this on my table mixed with some brown transferware and white plates. So pretty!

It just wouldn't be a shopping trip without milk glass!

I love these images, don't you?

How about this beautiful chalkboard? I could see this hanging in a mudroom, kitchen, office, etc. Would be a lovely place for notes!

Thanks so much for shopping with me! Did you find something you had to have?

Lighting!

I love lighting! I love shopping for it even when I don't need anything. Today I was searching Ebay for a wall lamp and found some great lamps and sconces ranging in price from $10 to over $1,000. Happy Bidding!

(Disclaimer - I have not purchased from any of these sellers so I cannot speak for their service.)
