Bedroom Progress

I had to take pictures of my daughter in the outfit she came down with yesterday. A white summer dress and suede winter boots. Oh and there are also capris under there too that you can't see. She didn't want to be cold of course! She certainly has her own sense of style and isn't afraid to mix and match!

We are making progress painting the bedroom. The whole room brightened up after my husband primed over the crazy blue paint and we gave the wood mouldings a coat of white. Although he isn't much happier with my color choice. He started edging my "pea soup" as he calls it and I think it's a fun, happy color and besides, it matches the bedding. We'll see what he says when it is all done.
I moved the island over to the window in the kitchen. I realize this is weird because it's an island and should be surrounded by nothingness. But I needed a place to pull up a chair and plug the laptop in without tripping over the cord. 1. I can gaze out the sunny kitchen window with my morning coffee. 2. I can blog and listen to my playlist while I make dinner. Does it get any better?

I've been thinking of painting the dishwasher green to match the cabinets. I bugs me how the silver sticks out like a sore thumb surrounded by green. Would that be weird?

I also took some black paint to the windows. I liked how it looked in the bathroom.....

So the kitchen windows received the same treatment.....

The kitchen has been coming along piece by piece. Still a few things I'd like in there....a new faucet, new doorknobs and most importantly ripping the floor out to see what kind of shape the wood is in underneath. There is a teeny tiny piece of vinyl coming up on a corner.....it would be soooo easy to just.....rip.......but I shall refrain for now. Only so many projects we can tackle at once!

I hope you all are having a wonderful day!

I am a new reader to your beautiful blog and wanted to ask, can the front panel of your dishwasher be pulled out and changed? I have heard of doing this before. And if that is not possible, I think painting it the same color as your cabinets would look fabulous.
Thank you for allowing us to peak into your world.

You made a peninsula! hehehe

I think painting your dishwasher is a fabulous idea. It's your house. Do what makes you happy! Who cares if people think it's weird?

My daughter used to come up with some of the dangest outfits you ever saw. I would buy her the cutest things and she would make the strangest outfit out of them. Anyway, your daughter is so cute she pulls it all off so well! Can't wait for you to see your package that's making it's way to your house!

I love the black trim around the windows. It just "pops" out so nicely. I hope that you and your husband like the "pea soup" walls when you're done. But if you don't, you can always try something different, right? That's the beauty of paint. Have a great day! :)

The black window trim is genius!! It really adds a lot of interest and character.

Painting the dishwasher green isn't weird at all :-) And neither is moving the island to its new home under the window. It's your home, do what you love with it :-)

Thanks for following our blog :-)

I also love the black windows (and wish that we lived in the type of house where we could do something like that - it would just look silly in new construction!). And the island looks perfectly fine there - what is the good of having an island that can move if you don't move it once and a while???

You have the best ideas Michelle. :)
I can't wait to see the reveals.
The green paint is very pretty and warm.

Have a wonderful week.

I love how you painted the window frames, great idea. Our door to the basement is in the kitchen and I painted it with chalk board paint. Don't you love it!~ I like the island there.

Hi Michelle :)

I'll give it a day or two before you rip up that corner LOL Ask me how I know this ;)

I love the black on the kitchen windows!! Ingenious, seriously. I love that light too. I wonder... have you dealt with a plug that doesn't have a switch? We have one above the kitchen sink for an old plug-in clock and we want to use the electrical for a light, but I don't know if it still works (chicken here!) or how we'd turn it off. Just thought you might have come across this.

I love your daughter's outfit. I remember when Annie would put things together like that. Now it's a lovely combo of zebra stripes and orange converse LOL

I think her bedroom color will be darling... has your hubby not noticed the brilliance that is his wife?? ;)

Beautiful photo of your daughter! My youngest was always putting together kooky getups when she was very young, and she ended up with a pretty good sense of style.

I love your blog - you have wonderful taste.

Michelle, I wonder if the paint will stick to the DW. I love kitchens where the appliances are covered with paneling like the cabinetry and you need a road map to find the frig. :-) I'm all for hiding those things, too. Love all the details and thought you put into your room and renovations! Susan

Nope, from Rich's mouth... it's a standard two prong outlet. We haven't even plugged anything into it yet for fear of being zapped LOL

Hey Michelle, I can remember my mom telling me the story where my brother had three pair of pants all inside each other on his bed., when she asked him about them he said this, "How would you like being made fun of because you're so skinny"? Little ones do have cute reasons for dressing in unique ways., girls however just love dressing up for no reason., I did too! ;) SHe's a doll baby. I love your windows painted black., totally looks great! Fresh and Crisp! ~CC Catherine from "Catherine de th`e Cups"

I just recently started reading your blog. I am laughing as I look at your kitchen pics; I have the same cookie jar from Target, chalkboard paint on 2 doors in my kitchen, and a curtain under my little coffee bar area in my kitchen. :) What good taste you have! :) :)

I really like your pantry door, too. That looks really nice!

I really like what you've done with your kitchen. I have an idea for your dishwasher -- purchase a piece of white vinyl (the same vinyl used for the vinyl lettering that you can put on your walls)and paint it the color of your cabinets. My brother-in-law did a diamond pattern out of this vinyl above my mom's kitchen cabinets and you can't even tell that it's not painted directly on the wall. That way if you ever change your mind you can just peel it off.

Michelle, All Home and Love said...

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for the idea! That really would be a good one for me since I change things around constantly.
