A touch of love

Put up a few Valentine's Day touches. The mantel is done and I love the pops of red in my mostly neutral white home.

My son cut out the hearts with me for our love branches. The marquee letters were an Etsy purchase some time ago. I leave them up year round but this time of year they are even cuter.

A Home to Love

We're all moved in and somewhat settled.  There are still a lot of boxes around but I thought I would snap pics of just a few clean corners.  The house was built in 1860 and has all the charm (and creaks and unevenness) of a home built in that era.  The owners had completely redone everything, including putting in a gas fireplace.  Can't wait to use that this winter!

Love the front door with the keys hanging from it...

The kitchen and an upstairs bedroom were an addition at some point in time and they left the exterior wall exposed.  I'm realizing as I write this that I forgot to move a laundry basket by the basement door before taking the pic.  See it back there?   Real life folks...

The kitchen and dining room have some really neat built ins.  And there are two covered benches in the kitchen which the kids love sitting on.  BTW they swear the house is haunted.  But they seem to be settling in regardless of ghosts we may or may not have.

I think my favorite part of the whole house might be these floors.  They are wide plank and even with so many flaws their beauty shines through.  We feel very fortunate to have found this house when we did.  It feels like we are meant to be here.

Forward Motion

Well, it's time to pack up and move on.  We're saying goodbye to the yellow house and hello to a whole new chapter.   It's bittersweet.  I'm excited to be on to the next stage, but sad to leave this home behind.  I have all my memories with me, and a ton of pictures.  This morning had me thinking about how happy I am that blogging came on the scene when it did.  It gave me reason to take ridiculous amounts of photos of "dumb" things like vignettes and random corners of my home.  But now I have all those pictures to take with me.  And I'm thankful for that.

And thankful for Modcloth because of happy shoes like these....

I'll be back with pictures of the new place.  I'll be renting for a while but the new place is OLD.  Stone walls, deep windowsills, wide plank floors 1860's old.

Can't wait!

Crafty, crafty, crafty....and disorganized

I've been working on trying to organize my workspace.  In my head, not in action just yet.  As my business has changed over the past year, the supplies I need to keep handy are changing as well.

And while I need to have a place for everything, I'm also feeling that familiar urge to "keep it pretty" as well.  When I started selling on Etsy last year, I ended up taking over my dining room.  You might remember it used to look nice.....

Now it looks like this, sad I know.

I've been snooping around online and found some inspiration.  Thought I would share it with you in case you have your own chaos to organize right now!

What is it about the New Year that makes us want to clean and organize?  It's so annoying! ;)

This is an adorable space I found on Sincerely Jen.  Great colors, everything out in the open so you can find a specific fabric easily.

I love this transformation over at Crafty Texas Girls.  She did a great job on her work space.

Another great space from Clover & Violet, tell me this isn't the cutest fabric display ever?  It's just happy.

How do you organize your craft or work space?   I'd love some tips before I tackle mine!
