The Yellow House

I named our house The Yellow House not long after we moved in. But only in my head. I thought of it as our little yellow house but I'm not sure I shared that with anyone....until I signed up for Rate My Space. At that point, I made it official! It doesn't get more official than your username on RMS, right?!

Christina of Signs of Obsession made this amazing sign for my porch! She is super talented and had my custom order done in no time at all. She even sent a pic to make sure I was happy with it before it was mailed. I highly recommend working with her. Check out her blog and tell her I sent you.

You can see from the above pic that I am still in exterior paint color hell. Do you remember my post about colors months ago? Still undecided. I really like the green she used for the foliage on the sign. I may just take the whole thing to the paint store and match up a paint chip to my new sign!

What a pretty sign. And what a sweet name for a home. :o) I posted recently on my love for yellow houses. :o)
Have a nice day.
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne

I love that name. In our neighborhood, this was unofficially called "The Big House" which sounds like a prison in an old gangster movie. There is a smaller, yet yellower, house only 1 lock from us and a gold house around the corner. So we still need a name!

What a lovely sign - what a nice gift! :D Jewel

Good morning Michelle :)

(sigh) I so want our house to be yellow and I thought there was hope until I found out that they took the siding off to put on the vinyl.. :(

I think that sign is absolutely darling and the green on it is perfect for the shutters :)

Oh and you really need to watch that movie! It's on Pay per view now ;)

Could I use more smilies??? LOL

Good Morning Michelle,
I love the sign, it looks so cute with the green ribbon. Our house is yellow also and is facing a paint job this summer...it is such a huge task, we are keeping it yellow though. You will figure it out...it will all of a sudden click for you and you will know.

What a lovely sign. I love the idea of naming your house - people do that in old books all the time (like Anne of Green Gables).

Saw your name on a couple blogs I follow, so I thought I'd stop by. Cute blog and I love the to do list on your side bar. That's a great motivator.

Yep, if it's on RMS, then you officially live in The Yellow House!! :-)

The sign is very pretty -- and makes it even MORE official!! ;-)

A great blog for colour advice is Maria's blog, Colour Me Happy. She has lots of great information on all things about colour:

Also, Patricia Gray has a post all about green on her blog that might be helpful:

I SOOOO understand your paint selection angst. Your pic with the paint swatches and "slapped with sample paint" shutters made me laugh. I once purchased 10 different pints of paint just to figure out the "just right color" of the exterior of our last house.

Hi Michelle, I love your yellow house! That sign is so cute. The color of the shutters looks good on my monitor. I'm so glad you found the the perfect house. My first house was built in 1923. It had alot of character that I miss. I will post it sometime. New houses just don't have the same charm! Thanks for checking out our new patio. We are really enjoying it so far. Kristen

I've been watching your blog for about a year now, and I never get tired of looking at the pictures that you have posted even though they appear to be old postings. Your Yellow House sign inspired me to make one for myself here in Tulsa, Oklahoma! My husband and I absolutely LOVE our yellow house. We chose Butter Up Sherwin Williams for our 1956 built beauty. AND I HAVE TO MENTION, I love your play list I listen to it all the time! Please never delete the current playlist, it will be a sad day. Haha! Thanks for posting your yellow house pics, it really helped me to be confident in my choice of color and realize that ONLY COOL PEOPLE have yellow houses! :) - Lauren
