Powder Room Project

The time has come, we're ready to get moving on the powder room. Back in June I had talked about it and it took us.....oh, only 5 months to actually begin. Let me give you the "Before" tour and then I'll give you an idea of the plan.

Last year I gave it a coat of brown paint that was leftover in the basement. It was a quick fix to cover the purple color it was when we moved in. I didn't want to replace the sink and toilet at that point so I went with the brown/blue theme.

We're lucky to have a window in this room for natural light but it doesn't have moulding around it. We plan to fix that....

Say goodbye to the blue sink! I found a new, white pedestal sink on Craigslist for a steal.

The floor is the worst part I think. It's vinyl and discolored.

The ugly fan...

My husband started taking the baseboards off and I yelled out, "WAIT! I have to take before pictures for the blog first!!" So he tried to put it back. Luckily he's understanding about just how important the before pictures are....

So that's the full tour, now on to the fun part. I definitely want to add some sparkle, love the sconces in this bath....

This mini chandelier was on clearance at Home Depot. You can't beat finding something off the rack and for cheap....

I looooooove the floor in this picture but my powder room is small....

So we ordered an all white 1" hexagon tile. My bathroom won't look this gorgeous (I NEED that chair...and the tub....and the mirror....) but it'll have the same floor.....

Being as it's such a small room, I want to make a big impact with wallpaper. I'm so glad wallpaper is back but honestly, even if it wasn't.....I'd still be wallpapering. This large print damask is gorgeous....

Target online has this paper available. It's one I'm considering but I want to look around some more first. Isn't the color pretty?

Well that's all my powder room ramblings for the day! I'll keep you posted with progress pictures as we move along. I'm looking forward to making this bathroom pretty for our guests.

(P.S. ~ The bathroom photos I used as examples were from my inspiration folder. I believe they all came from Country Living's website but if any belong to you, please let me know so I can give credit.)

I can't wait to see the finished product. I'm sure it will be gorgeous!

All of the windows in our house are like your window in the bathroom; no moulding! Can you explain how you replace/install moulding around the window?

We're going to be installing the same hexagon tiles in our bathrooms and replacing all of our dingy carpet with pine planks in a few months. I am so excited!

Have a great day! Beth.

Bathrooms are so fun to work with, because you can do very little and make them fabulous. I can't wait to see it when you're done, especially after the last bath remodel :)

Good luck with your bathroom remodel. I can't wait to see it all finished.

We will be redoing our bathrooms just after the first of the year...and it's only taken us 12 years! Yes, time to get rid of the mauve sinks!

We're sprucing up our bathrooms before putting our house on the market to sell. They say you get your money back out of updating kitchens and bathrooms. Hopefully it will hold true!

I love your bathroom even just as it is:) But the new design is wonderful too. I love the wallpaper and I am so under a mushroom that I didn't know wallpaper was back:) I happen to have wallpaper left from when I built the house, yeah! Have a blessed day my friend and can't wait to see all the progress!

It is going to be beautiful! I love those tiles and the wallpaper too! I started my bathroom re-do but haven't been able to finish it yet. I pulled down all of the old wallpaper and started taking out the old shower stall. I even bought the tub to go in there. I can't wait to get started on it again. I will keep checking with you to see how yours goes to get inspiration. Thanks!

Happy renovating! I can't wait to see your finished project - I know it will be fabulous!

It must be the season for bathroom redo's - - I'm in the middle of a bathroom redo also, but I won't be replacing my sinks, more of a face lift.

Hey Michelle,
I cannot for the life of me find your email so I am posting this here... I just received a HUGE surprise in the mail from you and I couldn't be happier! I was all smiles as I opened the box and found the most adorable items inside! I love everything - especially the sugar and creamer set! I had forgotten about the pay it forward thing and this was really a huge treat for me - it really made my day. Thank you sooooo much!

Unfortunately, my husband lost his job last month so funds are very very tight so I cannot pay it forward right away, but once we are stabilized again, I will be sure to post about it and keep it going. Thank you again so much!!!
