A Home to Love

We're all moved in and somewhat settled.  There are still a lot of boxes around but I thought I would snap pics of just a few clean corners.  The house was built in 1860 and has all the charm (and creaks and unevenness) of a home built in that era.  The owners had completely redone everything, including putting in a gas fireplace.  Can't wait to use that this winter!

Love the front door with the keys hanging from it...

The kitchen and an upstairs bedroom were an addition at some point in time and they left the exterior wall exposed.  I'm realizing as I write this that I forgot to move a laundry basket by the basement door before taking the pic.  See it back there?   Real life folks...

The kitchen and dining room have some really neat built ins.  And there are two covered benches in the kitchen which the kids love sitting on.  BTW they swear the house is haunted.  But they seem to be settling in regardless of ghosts we may or may not have.

I think my favorite part of the whole house might be these floors.  They are wide plank and even with so many flaws their beauty shines through.  We feel very fortunate to have found this house when we did.  It feels like we are meant to be here.
