Don't Blink

I took some pictures to remind myself that there will be a time when.....

There won't be Webkinz snoozing on my step stool.....

Or cartoons on the TV.....

There will be no pet shops tucked into their construction paper beds...

Or stuffed animals on every surface, in every room....

There will be no small shoes piled by the door, or little footsteps on the stairs....

Some day I won't have to move tiny mans out of the way to prepare dinner....

And my refrigerator won't be every designers worst nightmare....

Because there will be no one to make special pictures just for me.....

I won't have to constantly say things like, NO throwing the ball in the house and.....

make your beds!.....

I won't have anyone all excited to bring me bugs.....

Or to pick my flowers right off their stems.

I'm just quietly thankful...

today is not that day.

Yes, even though it seems the days drag by, they really do fly by and before you know it, you're right, they are out the door, hardly ever home!

What a riot! So glad to know that it isn't just at my place! Mine are Little Pet Shops, stuffed animals and legos..... The time flies by too fast though. Very cute kids!

Michelle, that day comes so much more quickly than you would ever expect. I look at my sons who are young men now and wonder whatever happened to the Ninja Turtle phase? It flies by with the speed of light and I miss my little guys!

Perfectly stated! That's, of course, NOT what I was thinking while I was taking care of my sick baby this morning. :( But, in retrospect...I should have been. Thanks for the reminder! :)

I'm relatively new to your blog and am enjoying it very much....so very charming. :)

The time goes by faster than you could ever expect...one minute I was chasing after my 3 boys trying to get them dressed for school..then I turned around and was chasing after them and making sure their tux was hanging right before they walked down the aisle...as precious as my time was with my 3 sons....it's just as precious with the 6 grand kids they gave us....

Enjoy each second..

Michelle this is so true it seems like yesterday my baby was running around and I was stepping on all of those little men and legos now all I ever see is a cell phone and the back of his truck as he's pulling out So Enjoy:)

So true, my oldest got married two years ago and made me a grandma this year. Second one and only son is graduating from high school in 10 days. So that will leave my eight year old. She's by far the messiest. But your so right. Every morning I see webkinz on the floor, dress-up clothes everywhere and whatever else she's played with the night before. But we have to be thankful for the time we do have them because before we know it, their grown and don't have time for us.

Good morning Michelle :)

Are you tring to make me cry this morning?? I loved this post and I miss those days terribly, because most of those things are over for us now :(

We're leaving the railings off (yay!)

Oh and you are so smart to wait and buy what you love. So many people just run out and get it all right away. But then again... I knew you were smart :)

Hi Michelle
I just had to comment about your comment you left me, it's so funny about the curtains, I do the same thing as a matter of fact I just changed the ones in my kitchen yesterday and I'm thinking of taking them down not sure if I like them, and I also decorate on a budget so I can change it and not feel guilty!

What an adorable post! I can relate! My kitchen table ALWAYS has legos all over it, so I'm constantly moving them to eat. My son just showed me a caterpillar he found the other day and wanted to keep it as a pet! Beds are rarely made daily and there is always artwork to be posted or saved somewhere. It's nice to see the positive instead of the negative with all of this.

You are wise to enjoy them!

Yes, time just flies by. Mine are almost 13 and 9. It is easy to want things perfect and not cherish the moments.

Somehow I missed your last post. The secretary is just beautiful. Love the new coat of white paint.

I LOVE this post! We all wish this stuff away but when it comes down to it we SHOULD be thankful to have it in our lives. Our children are the most important things to us, toys, bugs, unmade beds and all. Thanks for this post!

What is that pretty neutral tan color of paint in the picture with the kids artwork? I am looking for a color just like that?
