Forward Motion

Well, it's time to pack up and move on.  We're saying goodbye to the yellow house and hello to a whole new chapter.   It's bittersweet.  I'm excited to be on to the next stage, but sad to leave this home behind.  I have all my memories with me, and a ton of pictures.  This morning had me thinking about how happy I am that blogging came on the scene when it did.  It gave me reason to take ridiculous amounts of photos of "dumb" things like vignettes and random corners of my home.  But now I have all those pictures to take with me.  And I'm thankful for that.

And thankful for Modcloth because of happy shoes like these....

I'll be back with pictures of the new place.  I'll be renting for a while but the new place is OLD.  Stone walls, deep windowsills, wide plank floors 1860's old.

Can't wait!

Sebastian's First Modeling Gig

I just had to show off my handsome furry boy!!   We used him to model a new dog collar for our Etsy shop, didn't he do great?    He was a good sport and even modeled the girly one with flowers.   And the best part is that he works for treats and behind the ear scratches.

Have a wonderful weekend my blogging friends!

Hometalk

Do you ever go on Hometalk?  I "like" them on Facebook and the pics always make me smile.  So many fun ideas and great inspiration!  You can find the website here:  http://www.hometalk.com/

All these pictures came from them, credit to Hometalk.   Check it out if you haven't been there before.  Be warned though, it's kind of like Pinterest.  You can get sucked in for hours!  Have fun!

One Year, 9 Months and 26 Days...

That's how long it has been since my last post on this blog.   I always intended to come back to it but so much has changed in my life that the blog went to the end of the list.  So let me give you the short and sweet version to catch you up....I'll even make bullet points so it's an easy read:

~ I'm getting a divorce.

~ My kids have gotten bigger!  A whole year, nine months and 26 days bigger!  Hailey is 12 now, Ella just celebrated her 11th birthday and Emidio is 7.

~ I've learned that tweens are fresh, little boys talk about poop a lot and it's super uncool when I sing Taylor Swift in the car.

~ I'm still in The Yellow House, although projects have come to a halt with all the life changes.

~ I've gone from being a stay at home mom, blogger, decorator to working again.  I've had a couple jobs but that's a whole other blog post for a whole other time.

~ I've learned that I'm the creative type through and through.  It's what inspires me, makes me smile and keeps me challenged.  And I've passed it on!

~ I've also learned that dating is completely different in your 30's with kids than it is at 20 and carefree.  Not in a bad way though, life is pretty darn good.  My kids have adjusted well, I have a boyfriend that makes me happy and a supportive, amazing set of parents.  A girl could do worse!

Love these crazy kids!

So what will I post about now?   Food, clothes, craft projects, girly tween drama....I'm not sure, but what I do know is that it's good to be back.

Novica

A few months ago I was approached to review product for a website called NOVICA. The website was new to me and I had a great time browsing through the entire site, I'm pretty sure I looked at every category. After much deliberation, I settled on jewelry. My choices were the rose quartz beaded bracelet and the gorgeous necklace you see below called Snow Blossom. It's white, shocking, I know......

I took a little while to do my review because I wanted to wear the items and give an accurate review. After ordering, the package came quickly. The items came in such pretty boxes that, if you were ordering as a gift, would require no wrapping.

After wearing both pieces, I can tell you that I am absolutely thrilled. The quality is wonderful, they are beautiful and I have received a ton of compliments on the necklace. I can wear my Snow Blossom necklace with a dressy outfit or spruce up a basic jeans and t-shirt day.

There are many different sections to browse such as, Home Decor, Furniture, Handbags, Tableware and Corporate Gifts .

If you are looking for handmade items that are created with care, I would recommend this site to my blog readers.

From their mission statement:

"We want to give artists and artisans around the world a global platform to express their true artistic talents and to spur their creativity. And, we want to provide you with access to unique, hard-to-find items at great values that only the Internet infrastructure can allow. "

Happy Shopping!!

Spring Dreaming

It's cold and snowing here on this April 1st! Welcome to Pennsylvania! This weather has me down so I needed some perking up with pretty pictures that remind me of spring. The real spring, not this white, wet, cold stuff we're doing now.

How's the weather where you live?

Back To Reality

So last Monday Hubby and I were married 11 years, wow! More than a decade, that sounds like a long time to me. My parents offered to watch the kids for us Saturday night so we could go out and celebrate. They even volunteered to take them overnight and no way were we arguing with that. We went to a delicious Italian dinner and stuffed ourselves silly till we couldn't walk and the garlic smell was radiating all the way to Canada. (For local readers, we went to Mama Nina's, Main St., Bethlehem-excellent food!) After dinner we met my cousins and some friends for a couple drinks and for a few blissful hours managed to forget we had any responsibilities other than letting loose for a bit. We also managed to forget that we are 30 somethings and not 20 somethings anymore....but that is a whole other post.

After I drove us home (I only had one drink people, we are of the don't drink and drive responsible types.) we shuffled in the house completely exhausted because we're not used to being out that late. We were literally thisclose to glorious slumber when the phone rang. Let me tell you, when your phone rings at 2 a.m., it ain't gonna be good. No matter how you cut it, something is terribly wrong. And it was. Poor Ella was sick and my poor parents had been cleaning up vomit and attempting to not bother us for hours. How awesome are my parents? They were dealing with a sick child and were worried about ruining our night. They are all kinds of awesome. But Ella was crying for her own bed so off we went to pick our baby up.

And back to reality.....

With Ginger Ale.

She's feeling much better so far today and so far so good on everyone else.

Completely unrelated, I went to TJ Maxx last week and they had these bird plates. I thought they were sweet so I grabbed just the one for display....

What are your plans for this Monday? Did you remember to turn your clocks ahead? I feel like it takes days to adjust to the time change here!

An Angry Valentine

An Angry Valentine

If you won't be my Valentine
I'll scream, I'll yell, I'll bite
I'll cry aloud, I'll start to whine
If you won't be my Valentine.

I'll frown and fret, I'll mope and pine, and
It will serve you right---
If you won't be my Valentine
I'll scream, I'll yell, I'll bite!

~Myra Cohn Livingston
(From the book Valentine Poems)

I started putting up some Valentine's Day decorations. Since I don't use much red for Christmas, I love the pop of red this time of year. A perfect excuse to add color to my normally neutral home.

I'd say I love decorating for Valentine's Day but really, I love decorating for any time of year. I love switching out decor, moving things around and bringing a fresh touch to our home. It just makes me smile. Kind of like that silly poem. :)

Winter

Pic Source

It's been a month since I posted last. The holidays have come and gone and now here we are....knee deep in winter. This time of year tends to go by a little bit slower. The light of day is shorter, the cold makes us all hibernate a bit and the ground is frozen over. If I'm being honest, I love this time of year. I am a person who enjoys watching the snow fall from the couch, cup of hot cocoa in hand. I love the way we all slow down a bit and spend time at home watching movies and playing board games. It's totally me. I'm not a summer type girl. In fact, my husband lovingly (I think) calls me his "indoor girl." What can I say? I hate wearing a bathing suit but jeans and boots? Bring it!

Winter finds me here:

I could be on the computer finding new blogs to read. Have you checked out An Apple A Day? No? Click here !

And another must read is my friend Robyn's blog, The Pink Peony of Le Jardin . She is a super sweet lady and I would know because I get to hang out with her! She's the first blog friend that I've met in person and it's so fun to know a fellow decor blogger.

What do you like to do in the winter? Are you a fan of snow or are you wishing for sun?

Saturday

Source

We are fully in the holiday spirit over here. I'm even wishing for snow, how crazy is that?? There is something amazing about a White Christmas.....we'll just have to wait and see.

I wanted to show you what my talented friend Renee did in her kitchen. She found this old colander at a flea market.....

And turned it into a pendant for above her kitchen sink! Doesn't it look adorable? I love using found objects in a creative way and this is a win!

Have a wonderful weekend fellow bloggers! We'll be getting our tree tomorrow, the kids are SO excited. I'm not sure if they are more excited about the tree or the hot chocolate and donuts we always have after we get it. Hmmmm.....

Now I'm off to get dressed and drag all 3 kids to Target. Can you guess why?

"If I had found you, there isn’t a doubt in my mind how I would have proceeded. I was that boy, who would have — as soon as I discovered that you were what I was looking for — gotten down on one knee and endeavored to secure your hand. I would have wanted you for eternity, even when the word didn’t have quite the same connotations."
~Edward Cullen

Yup, I'm one of those crazy Twilight fans, don't judge, it's one of my only guilty pleasures.....this and Jersey Shore. Okay, that sounds nutty just typing it out so judge away!
