Big Days

This month was important in our little family. Not only did our youngest turn 4 years old....

...he also went to school for the first time ever. My only boy, the baby, the last child we will have, my heart.....is now spending time away from home. Okay, so it's only for a couple hours but still, it's hard to see him taking that step.

He, on the other hand, is handling it perfectly. He's so excited to go to school and that makes it sting a little less for his mama.

Today we pulled up to his preschool and as I took him out of his car seat he said to me, "I missed you last time when I was at this place." I think my heart did a complete flip flop. As parents we live for those moments, the rare times when they share their feelings like a grown up would.

I wonder if he was letting me know that hey, even though I'm having fun, I still think about you.

Just another reminder of how big he's getting, how the time continues to go so fast.

Some days I wish I could bottle it up.

Every day I get choked up and wish I could freeze time.

What a cutiepie! Couldn't you just squeeze him when he said that about missing you. You know what, you do bottle it up already.. in your heart! Have a blessed day.

They grow so fast. I wish I could keep my three year old just as she is...but I know that won't/shouldn't be. :( Next year she'll start school too.

I can relate. My youngest is now in grade 2 and I still feel a twinge of sadness when the bus pulls up. I know it is life, but it is hard. I always wish that I could press pause and enjoy these younger years a little longer.

He is just darling!! It is so hard to believe how quickly they grow up. I still find it hard to believe I have a 5th grader....WHAT?!?!

I have one in kindergarten, one in preschool and a 10 month old. I wish there was a way to capture their ages now and relive them when they become teenagers and they aren't so "precious" anymore!

Heather has it right!
My daughter is a sophmore now and my baby son is a freshmen. He told me yesterday....Mom, the older kids call us "Freshies". I know I will blink my eyes and he will be a senior, sniff sniff.
I so do miss their early years. They were so adorable back then, now...not so much. But it is nice to see glimpses of the people they will be as adults and parents. I actually prefer having a full nest even though it is full of teenagers right now.
Your nest looks just right!!
Loved this post...the photos are sweet!

How sweet! Little phrases from little minds help remind us were doing "ok" even though days are short and to-do-lists are long!

Awww 'Mids. So cute!!

I took Livi to school today for the first time and instead of getting weepy and clingy, she just ran off to play. Instead it was ME that got all weepy. It took me like 30 minutes before I could drive away from the school. Sad day!
The teachers said that both kids were happy and good today. What more could I ask for?

Wow - he's 4 already?!?!?! Weren't we just at an alpaca farm wondering if alpaca wool would make good soakers????

Jacob went to preschool this year too. I wasn't going to send him, but he kept asking to go (he's only 3).

Enjoy the time alone!

Oh how I can relate!!! I have 3 boys, and when each one left for school... I cried my eyes out. Those very few years we have them to ourselves are priceless... and FAST! Enjoy every second! Your little boy is darling. He will always think of you... I can tell by the Mom you are. (: (of course... there will also be those days when they're off to college, but come back home for help... I love those days too) xx Vicki

They sure grow up fast.... I agree, I think it's their way of reminding you that Mommy is not forgotten.

Oh yes they grow up fast! But then you get to do it all over again as a grandmother! And it goes even faster!

I know how you feel, because I've been there. I wish I could have bottled it up too. They grow up so fast and then one day they are asking for money and wanting to go to the mall.... oops! that's my life LOL Enjoy those babies of yours as long as you can :)
