A Weekend Away

What a fun week it has been here! Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes, I had a nice day. We went for a nice breakfast and then to a local shop I've never been in before. Hubby snuck away while I was browsing and bought me that little standing mirror. He surprised me with it on the way to the car. I just love it! We topped it off with dinner at my parents and ice cream cake.

On Friday I kissed my family goodbye and took off to Lancaster, Pa with my mom for a fun filled weekend of shopping! It was so nice to go away and Lancaster is one of my favorite places. Our getaway was actually for Mother's Day but this was the first weekend we could go. Unfortunately on Friday the weather looked like this......

That's a pic from my car window as we arrived. We didn't let a little rain keep us down. On to the shopping!!
I found this little pedestal dish at Pottery Barn. The Pottery Barn Outlet has to be the best invention since the wheel.....seriously.

At another store I picked this up for Hailey's room.....

After a bit of shopping, we checked into our hotel. We stayed at the Fulton Steamboat. I always thought this hotel looked beyond cheesy but it was really nice! I would absolutely recommend it. A soggy view....

A couple pics when the rain stopped....

No sitting on the balcony for us but it looked nice!

The room was very comfortable.

After check in we headed out to dinner. I took the pic of the sign on Saturday when the sun was finally shining. Millers is one of the many buffets in Lancaster.

YUM!

These ducks were so funny, hanging out in the parking lot. You could drive right next to them and they didn't budge.

Grits and bacon were calling us on Saturday morning. We had to listen so off to Cracker Barrel we went!

What is a Cracker Barrel visit without pics on the rockers?

My mom is going to kill me for this pic but I think she looks beautiful. Don't we look alike? No? lol I look just like my dad. :-)

After that meal, we needed to do some serious walking! Since it was finally dry on Saturday we went in and out of the little gift shops and antique stores. My favorite part besides the eating!
I bought this little creamer to add to my ever growing collection....

There is a store called Jakes Trading Post that is a lot o fun. You know it's going to be good when you see this on your way in....

Need a closer look?

They had a ton of garden goodies. Fountains, flags, trellises.....I actually took pics of some of the flags because they had so many to choose from. This isn't even all of them, I stopped taking pictures when other shoppers looked like they were about to call security. I won't even tell you how long we spent in this store....

At this point we were craving ice cream. Who doesn't like ice cream? We went into Strasburg to visit the creamery and walk around. The creamery makes their own waffles and waffle cones, so good!

The town is adorable, I could so live here.

This store was one of my favorites....

I have now convinced my husband I need an old bike for our front porch. How cute is this?!

I found a couple things in this store....

First this sweet candle holder....

And these over sized keys. Aren't they neat?

In our antiquing journey I also spotted this wire stand. It came in handy yesterday when I hosted breakfast for the moms from school.

Unfortunately, it was time for our trip to end. Of course we ate again first! Our local Fuddruckers closed so we took advantage and grabbed a burger before we got on the road.

That was our girls only weekend. We hope to make it an annual thing!

Sounds like a perfect weekend! Good shops, good eats, and precious time spent with your Mom.
I lost my Mom a few years ago, and for years before that she was lost to us as she had Alzheimer's Disease. Continue to cherish your Mom and the time spent with her.
This memory you've created you will be a life-long treasure.

Looks like such fun! I love the white bench. And of course the creamer--I collect those, too. My MIL has about 100 that I hope will be mine some day--she's an expert on Depression glass.

Oh there is nothing like a get away for shopping and eating with your Mom. That reminds me, we need to figure out where we are going this year. Maybe Savannah!?

I loved coming along on your little trip and seeing all the cute little shops. I have not been to Lancaster in years and years - would love to go back. I especially liked the little white creamer as I collect those, too.

Thx for sharing your trip with us.

Warmly, Barb

So glad you got to have a Mother/Daughter get away! You look beautiful in your picture!! Lucky you to get to eat at Cracker Barrel..It is my most favorite restaurant and they don't have them out here. My husband knows if we are going by one on a road trip during meal time, THAT is the place we will eat. That fried catfish is heaven!! The shots of the store with the pink table and vintage stove were bliss! Thank you for sharing.

I am from eastern PA, but currently live in Pittsburgh. My husband and I hit those outlets (Pottery Barn! Restoration hardware!) every time we go 'home'. Lancaster is cute, there is so much to do. It looks like you had a fun time! :)

I live in Lancaster & love the Creamery and Lulu & Tutz, too. Hope you also go to Olde Mill House Shoppe which is close (but off the beaten path) from the PB outlet. Be sure to check out the town of Lititz. It's less 'touristy' than the other places you were. And Adamstown is the place to go for antiques.
