Wanna Chat?

I'm all ready to get on with the day, right after I finish my coffee....something that is vital to my morning. Is it like that for you too or do you wake up bright and cheery and ready to face the day? I need the caffeine or else my day gets off on the wrong note.

Anywho....I realize I've been MIA around these parts lately. I have to say that I love blogging but I also love taking breaks from it. From the computer in general....

There are so many "electronic" things that take our attention these days, it gets tiring for me. How about you? Do you get overwhelmed by all the technology and websites? TV, Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, etc....

It can get to be a lot. Some days I realize that if I added up all the time I spent online or in front of the TV...well lets just say that I don't really want to add it up, yikes! So with the nice weather upon us, I'm trying to spend more time outside, more time doing things that don't involve my laptop. The blogging community is wonderful and so much fun but balancing things is a challenge for me. I wonder how some of you do it, working, family, house, blogging......how do you find time for it all? Do you make a schedule, do you set a timer, do you stay up 22 hours a day?

Finding balance has been on my mind lately. I will still be posting, I'd miss you all if I didn't! But it won't be as often in my attempts to never respond to my 4 year old's "Mommy will you play Memory with me?" with "In a minute" or "Hold on, Mommy is doing something." I have to be honest and admit those responses happen much more often than they should.

Last night he got out his sister's play laptop and sat down next to me on the couch, pretending to "text" as he said. It made me smile that he was trying to copy me and I said to him, "Are you on the computer like Mommy?"

His response?

"Wait a second!"

Ugh.

If I were a good Mommy, he wouldn't have said that. If I were a good Mommy, I wouldn't be on the computer when I should be playing outside with him.

So that's the long winded explanation (or excuse) for where I have been the past couple months. Just trying to be honest with myself and make some changes. I'm sure none of us will be 90 years old and wishing we spent more time in life Tweeting.

If I'm 90, sitting on my porch in a rocking chair, thinking, "If only I had done more social networking...." someone please smack me.

This month has gone by so fast. My hubby and I celebrated our 10th anniversary on March 7th. He got me roses and I got him a card. I'm so bad in the gift department, what do you get for a guy anyway?

The powder room is coming along.....

Wallpaper is done, crown moulding up, lights installed.....

We wallpapered the ceiling too which I love. The crown really shows it off. No idea what is going on with that icky window there, wallpaper paste maybe?

The window looks so much better now with trim around it.

I was asked where I found this wallpaper. I ordered it from a local store here but you can find it in this book:
And a link:

And now the tile. Oh the tile. We went to lay it all out and plan our tiling project and then realized we didn't have enough. Isn't that always the way? Our order is in for one more box, as soon as Lowes calls we'll be grabbing that 3rd box and finishing this room up! I'll be so glad when it's usable again.

I have something else in the works as well that has been taking up my time, I'll blog about that soon.

So tell me, what is new with you? Is spring showing up where you live?

Enjoy your break from technology! You're right! We all spend way too much time on the computer, cell phone, playing video games, watching tv, and such. Myself included. I've been thinking the same thing lately. That I need to take a break from the blogs and Facebook, and pay more attention to my family.
I love the way your bathroom is turning out! Sorry you didn't order enough tile. I hate it when that happens. Can't wait to see it all finished!
Hope you have a great day!! Beth. :)

I so agree with what you are saying. First of all, I need my coffee in the morning, I'm on my second cup right now as I type this. I don't tweet, I don't have a Facebook, it's just all too much for me. I blog because I truly enjoy it most of the time and unlike you, my youngest is 21 so I have the time, I don't have young ones waiting for me to play with them. So I do get it. If you enjoy it, then post when you can, don't worry about trying to please the masses. We all have different schedules and things going on. With that said, I do enjoy your blog and enjoy seeing what you are up to. You are a delight! Your powder room is amazing!

Have a wonderful day.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Life happens and needs to be number one! I agree all of this can be put on the back burner, your children are most important, along with your husband! Beautiful pictures, your home is coming along beautifully! Have a wonderful day enjoying life!

We all need to unplug sometimes. I get that way too when I just feel like it's sucking up too much of my time. Good for you for doing the right thing! Love the way your bathroom is coming together and can't wait to see that tile. Lovely!

I definitely have to have my coffee with fat free hazelnut creamer to get my engine going in the morning.

I only blog and haven't gotten sucked into Facebook (or anything else).....yet. I am usually on the computer when Lexi is at school or in the evening when she is doing homework or something that she doesn't need me for. I don't blog as much as I used to because I was wasting too much time in front of the computer.

Looks like your home is coming along so beautifully. Projects are sometimes a pain but SOOOO worth the work in the end.

I too am really ready for Spring. Our weather has been teasing us with a few days in the 70's then back cold and rainy. I'm looking forward to spending more outdoor time soon. Enjoy your day.♥

I totally agree, family has to come first! It isn't always easy trying to "do it all" -- impossible really. We just have to choose what is most important! Good for you! :)

And your bathroom turned out just beautifully! I love it all! That wallpaper is gorgeous & I really like the light fixtures you chose too!!

Blessings,
Stacey

Hi Michelle,

I love having my coffee in the morning, too. I don't know if it's the caffeine or just the comfort of drinking a hot beverage of that great coffee flavor. My hubby makes better coffee than I do, tho. It's my one comfort drink.

I've missed your posts and totally understand where you're coming from re: electronics. Especially you being a mom of young kids. Your kids and hubby are your main focus as it should be. So being MIA is understandable. I know many women think they can "do it all", but I don't believe that. Something suffers. Good for you that you've made the right choices.

Of all the blogs I follow, I enjoy yours so much because your decorating style is exactly what I like the best. I love seeing pictures of your home and what you've done with it. It's a great inspiration to me!

Thanks for letting me jabber on! Enjoy that family of yours and we'll all be waiting here whenever you post!

Have a great day!

Nancy

Absolutely stunning! I can't wait to see the flooring down...
I don't do twitter and I gave up Facebook for Lent, so I've had more time to work on projects and blog rather than sit there and do needless fb stalking... I've enjoyed the time away from it.
Good luck with your tile project.
Have a super day!
Jennifer

First of all, you are a good mommy! You realized that a change was needed, and you are putting your kiddos first. Some people aren't able to take a step back. Balance is always elusive, and I'm constantly trying to find it. So I understand the break, but I am glad that you will still update us on your projects! Can't wait to see the finished bathroom!

You are a good Mommy because you observed something that bothered you and you are willing to take ownership and do something about it. I agree it is all in balance. We share the same anniversary date. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for forty years. Hard to believe it has gone so quickly. You are so right it is the time you spend with loved ones that really matters. Oh and about the coffee 11/2 hrs to drink 2-3 cups and then I can face the day, Happy Thursday!! Kathysue

I need a moment in the morning to compose myself. I don't wake up cheerful. My hubby on the other hand wakes up like Spongebob.

Ouch on the computer thing. I struggle there too. I need me time and if I get it at night I can't wake up the next day. Some days I do better than others. One thing I have learned is that my kids always want more of me. It's not like laundry or dishes where I check that box off. I just do the best I can.

Your home is beautiful ! I love it. I'm such a fan :).

Hello sweet Michelle - as you know from my 2 month absence, I totally agree with you about taking a break from technology once in a while. Though I did miss writing and chatting with my sweet friends, I have to say I found that I had so much more time to just "be." What ever capacity - more play time with my kiddos. More time with my wonderful hubby. For playtime outside.

I love your bathroom! It's coming along beautifully. The wallpaper is FAB! And what a pretty chandelier.

Blessings,
Marie

I'm just new to all this blogging, and it definately can be time consuming to say the least! I told my husband I'd be 1/2 hour putting together a blog, and I think it turned out to be 3 hours and it wasn't even that good : )
He felt our lost time, I can only imagine how the kids feel? And I can honestly say, they all feel the pain if mommy doesn't get her coffee by 6:45 sharp!

Glad to see you and yes we must find some balance. I usually blog in the mornings when I am sipping my coffee, which I can't live without:), in the nighttime before I go to bed, I read and schedule my morning blog and otherwise... I am busy enjoying life. Hugs to you my dear friend and enjoy your day whatever you do. Love the wallpaper!

I had to take a break for a while as well, from blogging. Yes, all that junk CAN and does take time away from real life.
....and YOU ARE a good mommy b/c you realize that "life" is more important than the technology stuff and giving yourself a break from that is good, so don't beat yourself up about "bad mommy". We do that don't we, feel such guilt...but that guilt is what makes us better. Thank the Lord for that.
Your powder room is coming along so beautifully, wanna come help me with mine? It's not fun thinking about painting while pregnant....I'll have hubby do it.
Have a lovely weekend!

My hubby and I celebrated our 13th anniversary this last month and I was very distracted over a friend who told me that day she was getting a divorce. I didn't even get him a card! I am very blessed to have him; he brought me breakfast in bed. hey, if you have time, check out my blog: http://handful-of-daisies.blogspot.com
