Making some progress over here.

I had mentioned in a previous post that we were working on our "Everything Room" and then sort of dropped the subject. Well, the work has officially begun! I've been going crazy looking through magazines for ideas and collecting things for the room but yesterday my husband and I got going on it. We went to Home Depot and bought the paint and the new doors. The above picture is my hubby screwing in the tracks for one of the pocket doors. These are just stock doors from the Depot. I would have preferred to special order some pretty doors but we decided to go cheap on the pocket doors and then splurge on a new outside door. I want a 15 light door instead of the one we have now which has a very small window.

My husband wondered why I didn't want to paint the doors before he put them on. The black stuff? Grease from him touching the tracks and then the door. I had a feeling they would get bumped around a bit so I'll paint them on.

It was his first time installing pocket doors and the first one had to be put on and taken off a couple times. Once it was on, it wouldn't open all the way and we couldn't figure out why. Turned out, there was a giant concrete nail sticking out of the floor inside the wall. We tried unsuccessfully to knock it loose, pull it out, etc. but it was laughing at us. After about an hour, he surrendered and cut the door shorter to accommodate the massive spike. I'll show the finished doors in a future post, still lots to do! He did a great job on them, they are all level and open and close smoothly. Yay!

Here is what I have so far. Paint colors, fabric and wallpaper. I can see this all coming together in my head. Lets just hope my mind isn't playing tricks on me and it all works in the end.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far! Today we're going to fill in nail holes so we can get going on the paint. I think another trip to Home Depot is in our immediate future as well.
