How Not To Have A Birthday

Don't add way too little breadcrumbs to your meatballs so they end up tasting like lumps of beef straight from the cow....

Don't buy garlic bread that is so garlic-y everyone in the house has to be quarantined for two days so the smell can dissipate....

Don't wait until the last minute to plan decorations and end up having the kids scribble on scrap paper while mom hovers over holding the tape and checking her watch....

For goodness sake, try not to burn the lasagna so much the top half is barely recognizable....

DO breathe a huge sigh of relief that the inside of the lasagna looks like this....

...And an even bigger sigh that they are all still smiling at you.

Thank goodness my family accepts my lack of culinary skills....next year on my hubby's birthday the only thing I'm making is reservations.

LOL, I don't like to cook so I'm sure my attempts would have turned out much worse. The happy pic of your family is precious. Happy birthday to your hubby!

It is the thought that counts right?

I ran out of frosting for Mr. M's birthday in April. It was sad looking, but tasted good.

Oh no! At least you can smile about it now, right? I'll give you an "E" for effort. And there's nothing wrong with reservations!!!!!

Looks like it all turned out good. My hubby's bday is today. I'm heading to the shore so the celebration will have to wait till Friday night. I think he is kind of happy for the night "off"

I just bet he was still perfectly happy. To make you feel better I will tell you that I burn something at least once day! It's the running joke in our family.

Actually, for me, the more garlic the better. I think the meal looks delicious. Your family is just beautiful. You can cook for me any day.
You are a sweet wife and mother.

I LOVE Garlic too and use it on and in just about everything. Have you ever tasted the ugliest cake and it is the best one? That lasagna looks delicious to me and what is better than a hand-made birthday sign by people you love? I think your Hubby wouldn't have changed a thing:)

Oh Michelle - it was definitely the thought that counted, and I'm sure that's why they're all smiling so sweetly! The lasagna looks yummy (I happen to like the top well done).

Ah, don't be so hard on yourself. It all looks great, and you were all together on your husbands birthday. That's the best part. Just being with each other. Your meal looks similar to what we had for our daughters' birthday party this week. We had Spaghetti and meatballs, Texas Toast, and green beans from our garden. Yummy. :)

I'm with ya, hon! My best dish is my scrambled eggs the dogs and I eat. Reservations are good. Then you can blame someone else if things go wrong! They all look mighty happy to me though!

how sweet are you to think of me when you go out in your garden!!! I am glad some of my little tips that I have learned over the last few years is helping. I used to think that gardening was a hobby that had to cost a lot of cash, and being a college student for a long time forced me to figure out how to do it the easy way!!! Most of the rules get broken at my house!! Have a great week!

Michelle - you came over and commented on my door knob project today and I wanted to also mention that I screwed the dowels in from the back once I had them in place. Oh, and I dropped some wood glue down the hole bfore I pushed the dowel in the hole. I didn't use a big screw, just made sure I went through the dowel and that it sort of split the dowel so it would stretch and fill the drilled hole and make a tighter fit - does that make sense? Those knobs were pretty heavy.

Thanks for the visit -
