I finally came up with a great place for it, the porch! My new favorite color is Rustoleum Heirloom White in satin finish. Perfecto!
I also wanted to redo this corner shelf in my dining room. It wasn't my style but it belonged to my Granny so I wanted to make it work in my house.....
Here it is after a fresh spray of Heirloom White and a little distressing of course!
This cheese dish came from a yard sale and the base is wood. I don't intend on using it for food so the bottom got a fresh coat of.....do I need to say it? You are noticing the color pattern here I'm sure....
And then there were these two little stools. No before pic because I forgot but the top one was red and the larger stool on the bottom was green. See how I mixed it up a bit on you there, the bottom stool is done in a light blue. I didn't stray for long because....
...we are back to the same white. The frame was another yard sale find and natural wood. I love what a little white paint can do!
After that was all done (and before the hand agony set in) I got around to working on that dishwasher project I've talked about. It bothered me that our dishwasher is glaring at you when you walk into the kitchen. I like stainless appliances but just not this particular one. Here's what it looked like....
And this is after adding paintable wallpaper. I really wanted to add those faux tin tile backsplash pieces to it (you can find them in the kitchen section of Home Depot) but our dishwasher was rounded on the sides and I didn't think it would look right. Plus I wanted to paint it the same as the cabinets. So this is my solution, a roll of 50 cent wallpaper from a yard sale.
This is how it looks now after a coat of paint. I still have one more coat to do and then I'll seal it with Valspar sealant made for painted surfaces.

Now I have a huge disclaimer on this and that is, don't rush and do this! Please! I don't want an angry mob at my door after you all wallpaper your dishwasher and the paper falls off leaving the front ruined. I'm not sure this is going to work! It is prepasted wallpaper but I used additional adhesive and lots of glue to put it on. I'm still unsure if it will stay because what do you use to remove old paper from walls? Yup....steam. And dishwashers put out lots of that. Give me a month or so and I'll report back on if this is working out or if I'm picking up pieces of wallpaper from the floor. If my gobs of glue trick doesn't hold, it'll be on to Plan B. No clue what Plan B is but hey, sometimes decorating is about being fearless right? I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I am loving these long, lazy days of summer also! I LOVE that chandelier and where you ended up hanging it on the porch. Also, your grandmothers shelf is perfect, painted and holding your old scales. I LOVE it!!! Everything looks wonderful and I hope the wallpaper works on the dishwasher. It looks great.
Last year spray painting was bothering my hand so I got one of the attachments. It makes it so much easier and doesn't hurt. You might want to check into it.
I love, love, love all of your wonderful painted things. I am really liking the Heirloom white. It is so pretty. Just the right shade. Can't wait to hear how the dishwasher turns out. Hugs, Marty
everything is so beautiful! I LOVE everything!! I hope the wallpaper stays on the dishwasher! too cute of an idea!
love the dishwasher...hope it works out long term. I also love what a little white paint can do, I especially like that little white frame. Cute stuff!
Love, love, love what the wallpaper on the dishwasher...brilliant idea! I hope that it works because if it does I plan to steal your idea. ;) Love all of your transformations.

I'm loving Rustoleum Heirloom White in satin finish, it all looks so pretty!
And I think your dishwasher project might work. A friend of mine decoupaged hers once and it lasted until she had to buy a new one!
Such beautiful pictures. I love how you painted everything white. I agree... it's hard to blog in the summer. The weather is so nice and summer is such a short season - at least it is for us in New England. -Jackie
K, where do I start??? I LOVE that candelabra. I have never in all my thrifting days seen anything remotely like that. Where are you? Secondly, all of your finds are so cute spraypainted my fave color - heirloom white. Everything looks great that color. Love your Granny's shelf... it looks so different now! Love the scales and i have the same hen on top! And.I.Love. that sinkskirt. If I didn't think my hubs would divorce me, I'd rip off the cabinet doors and do the same thing. Way too cute. You outdid yourself girl!

Ok, seriously that is a lot of projects to take on! Don't you feel so accomplished though??? I am so loving the wallpaper idea. It looks so, so good. AND a display case for all of your scales-LOVE IT! I can't even believe that is the same candleabra. I just love everything! You are so inspiring :)

You have been busy .

Great spray paint makeovers! I love the benches, would have never thought to stack them, they look great. Also LOVE all those scales on your gramma's corner cabinet, so cool!! Fabulous job :)
Clever make-over of your dishwasher! I'll be curious to see if the wallpaper will stay put. I love that chandelier!
I love everything - esp. your granny's shelf with all the scales - how cute!! You need to invest in one of those attachment things - fits on top of your spray paint can - looks like a "gun". They sell them right on the spray paint aisle and will save your hand and fingers from cramping - and they sell for about $5. Love mine to death. I did a post about it - its maybe 3 posts back.
And the dishwasher "cover" - love it!!
I always look forward to your posts!
Happy Hump Day
Michelle,
I *heart* heirloom white, too! It's great. I love how paint brings out the detail in your frame. I ditto what Lynette said about the spray paint attachment. I got mine for about $2.50 at a home improvement store. SO worth the money. Even coverage and you aren't sore after! Keep enjoying your summer!
Nancy
Oh I love how your Granny's shelf turned out, it looks perfect with the scales on there, she would be proud I'm sure! I will diffently be getting some Heirloom spray paint, it looks like a good color for me too. I can't wait to see your new island/dresser and the new skirt looks so cute under the sink. Love it(;
Hugs~Kelly
P.S. Almost forgot the chandy is to die for and you found the perfect spot for it on the front porch!
Hi Michelle,
I have been a big fan of the heirloom white for a long time, it is the perfect vintage color. Your sink skirt looks cute, I am still loving mine. Everything looks adorable and I love your vintage scales.
Hugs,
LeAnn:)
OH ~ My ~ GOSH!! This looks great! ALL of it! I love the cheese plate, I got one at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago and painted my base black, but I am loving yours better! More spray paint please!
And the dishwasher! GREAT idea! I am going to do this! I LOVE anaglypta paper! It hides a multitude of sins, but I had NEVER thought about using it on the dishwasher!
Thank you for this wonderful idea!!
Lou Cinda :)
It's amazing what paint can do. I love love love the stand with the scales!
You are in full project mode! Everything looks great. Well worth the carpal tunnel, huh? :)
So... I'm new to your blog, but absolutely LOVE it!! I have so many crafty ideas and this is helping me to focus on them and hopefully get down to business soon. :-)
PS: I have GOT to know... what is that gray/blue wallcolor in the background or you grandmother's shelf that you painted heirloom white? I need a blue/gray color for our bedroom and I LOVE that look!!
I know what you mean... way to much to do outside and not enough time for the computer these days, but once Fall rolls around... ;)
Your kitchen looks cuter and cuter every time you do something new. You keep topping yourself and I love it! I love all the projects you did too :)
xo,
rue
i love everything that you did...especially the candelabra on the porch. i have one above my kitchen sink! i love placing my treasures in unexpected places. the dishwasher looks fab...it may just mean that you have to utilize all those little hands in your house to do dishes by hand for ya...
Michelle, I love everything, love the stools and the shelf with all those old scales on it...perfect! The dishwasher, now I would never ever have thought of that, but i have to say that i am not a fan of shiny things in the kitchen either and it looks great!! Glad you are enjoying your summer...it all goes too quickly! :)
~WOW! Everything is so pretty Michelle. I really adore how the corner shelf and the chandelier came out in white.
What a transformation!
Have a blessed day my friend.
~Melissa :)
Everything looks lovely. My girls and I love paint too! our fingertips are sore from spraying this week.
Beautiful! I love the shelf, what a perfect spot for your vintage scales. The stools are cute and adroable also.
Glad to hear your hands are feeling better, great results from all your pain though. Your home is a constant inspiration to me. Thanks for sharing it.
Sorry about the carpal tunnel but you new painted items are awesome...love the light, the shelf and most of all the Dishwasher. I'll be interested to see how that paper holds us. Keep us posted. ;)
Wow, you HAVE been busy! That white paint works wonders, doesn't it? Grandma's shelves look great, and that chandy- looks like a new piece! Fantastic transformations, all!!!
:-) Sue
You've been busy busy! No wonder your painting hand is cramping up! Love the heirloom white and LOVE the neat old scales on your granny's shelves!
Amy
Everything looks great! I have one of those cheese things sitting on my shelf at work. I need to bring it home and paint it.
I feel bad your hand hurts sweetie. The spray can attachment is on the shelf in the basement. I thought you had it. Get well soon, I need a backrub. Ron
Love all that you have done with the projects!! Heirloom white is fabulous and can do wonders for just about anything!!
Wow, you did do lots of projects! They are all great! The chandelier is just delightful. I can just picture the candle glow right now.
Love the dishwasher too. It is amazing how something can just stick out to us and we long for something to change that. Great!
Ahhhhh Michelle...I am always in awe of what you accomplish! Now everyone is going to have dishwasher envy from now on. I'm thinking my ugly white fridge could use some of that! Your grandmother's shelves are perfect for your vintage scales, love the benches and everything else you've painted. Say--do you have one of those spray paint triggers? They are only like $2 bucks and really save the carpal tunnel!
Love your birthday story! Still cracking up...You are awesome!
~Misti
Your painted things are making me so envious. REALLY, I just want some time to be able to do my own projects and finish some things I've started. AWWW, it's so dang hot here.
Love everything you've done.
Love your home!! I love the shelf that you have the vintage scales on to.I think I need you to come to my home and help me:) Have a great night.
Just found your blog and absolutely love, love, love it!
Grins! Pamm
Wait...What??? Wallpaper on the dishwasher? You're a genius! But I liked the disclaimer about it sticking so "you wouldn't have an angry mob at your door". Quick thinking! Now just let us know if it continues to stick. : )
I LOVE the way it looks...beautiful!
Hello Michelle - you have been a very busy spray painting bee! Love all your make-overs, especially that stand with all the cute scales on it. I adore Heirloom White! And your dishwasher looks fabulous. You will have to keep us posted as to how it holds up. Thank you for sharing!
Blessings,
Marie

Michelle, you are a girl after my own heart! I love all your recent painting projects - that heirloom white looks great! I'm glad you weren't afraid to paint your grandma's furniture piece...I'm working on a "grandma's piece" myself and said the same thing - I wanted to make it work in my house.
Oh and LOVE the pretty robin's egg blue porch ceiling...so pretty! Keep up the great work!
Girl, have you used the spray paint gun attatchmen thing? Gosh I wish I knew what it was called. But it's less than $3. I got mine at Walmart. It REVOLUTIONIZED my spray painting. You squeeze the trigger instead of having to press the nozzel. It fits over all spray paint cans too. Do I sound like an infomercial? :)
Love it all-
Cheri
come see me-give aways going on.
